Empower Student Innovation - One Project at a Time

Each year the Early Colleges host a Senior Expo, in which high school seniors take on the challenge of creating Capstone Innovation Projects that turn their passions into purpose. With creativity and teamwork, students design solutions that address real-world issues — from community improvements to tech-driven innovations.

Your support makes these moments possible. Every donation helps provide materials, mentorship, and opportunities for students to showcase their work and build confidence for the future.

The senior class combines the curriculum from English IV and Project Lead the Way: Capstone (in the case of the engineering program students). Teams of students have devoted the last four years of their education to figuring out how to problem-solve using the engineering and teaching design process. The Charlotte Early College Senior EXPO, held each year in the Spring, is the public event where the students showcase this knowledge and their year-long design and development projects.

To succeed, the projects require ingenuity, creativity, and sustained focus throughout the school year. Groups work with peers and professionals as they go through the development of their unique products. Community involvement is key to our students’ success.

Kick Asthma Wins the 2025 Fleischer Scholars Foundation Social Entrepreneurship Challenge!

We are thrilled to announce that Kick Asthma has been named the 2025 winners of the Fleischer Scholars Foundation Social Entrepreneurship Challenge for Teen Changemakers!

The Kick Asthma team—comprised of Alex Grady, Aniela Haines, Honor King, and Sara Tingle—impressed judges with their innovative approach to asthma therapy and treatment. Their project explores how modern technology, using personal mobile devices already in patients’ possession, could reduce treatment costs and improve proactive patient care.

By leveraging existing mobile technology, their solution has the potential to revolutionize asthma management, making treatment more accessible, affordable, and effective for patients everywhere.
